The magic is in the details with Reclaimed Wood

Working with reclaimed wood requires a unique vision and an appreciation for a different kind beauty. At Ohio Valley Reclaimed, we have that vision. And, the appreciation is easy. The first time you cut into a rough sawn reclaimed timber, or weathered piece of hand salvaged ohio valley reclaimed wood and uncover pristine wood grain or a quality and character that can't be bought in a store, you reverted to a child-like state where you start to question everything. Every time I see a piece of furniture or home decor, I look for the marks of age and character that...

Reclaimed Wood is Top Pinterest Design Trend in 2017

A recent article that a friend sent my way, highlighted the top design trends for 2017 and Reclaimed Wood was at the very top of the list according to Pinterest. Closely following Reclaimed Wood on the list were Farmhouse Style and Danish Hygee. Of course, the fact that all of these design and home decor trends are among my favorite, is great! I'm realizing more each moment that I work in the workshop, with each product description I write, and with every new piece that I create, that Papa is...

100 years and a lifetime of gifts

100 years. That's how old my grandfather (we called him Papa) would have been today. He was an incredible mentor, father, grandpa, husband, and teacher. He was a project manager by profession, but spent his retired years, and many nights and weekend while he was working, making things. He designed and handcrafted small furniture, created odds and ends that had specific uses, and even built a log cabin that we called, "The Creek." He passed away just over 5 years ago, but he has lived on in so many ways because of the positive impact that he had on the lives...
